Free visit to Disney World?

Free visit to Disney World?

When we moved to Central Florida six years ago, our family was excited to explore the tourist hot spots. However, moving expenses and the cost of tourist traps put a damper on our plans. Our solution was Disney World. While Disney World may not seem like an economical outing, our family turned Disney into an almost free excursion. The secret? Disney Springs!   Since our boys were young and inexperienced Floridians, they never realized that their visit to “Disney World,”…

Evening Fun at Universal’s City Walk

Evening Fun at Universal’s City Walk

A visit from out of town guests provides a great opportunity to meet up at new locales. A few weeks ago we met some old friends at Universal’s City Walk. Unlike the theme parks, admission to City Walk is free, as is parking after 6 PM. However, we decided to beat the evening rush and pay the before 6 PM parking fee of $20.  We met our friends at NBC Sports Grill and Bar. With over 100 high definition screens,…

From browsing the colorful and tasty merchandise at M&M’s World to sampling the products at the Beef Jerky Outlet, the Florida Mall provides an opportunity for all ages to have an enjoyable and cool outing. I-Drive McDonalds

I-Drive McDonalds

Six years ago, we left our family and friends in Kentucky for a new adventure: life in Central Florida. With so many activities and places to visit in a state where tourism is king, we weren’t quite sure where to start. One of the first places we checked out was the world’s largest entertainment McDonald’s and Play Place off of International Drive in Orlando. We were sadly disappointed as the food was not that great and the restaurant was quite…

Gatorland

Gatorland

After six years in Florida, our family decided to finally visit one of Florida’s original tourist attractions: Gatorland. From its opening in 1949, Gatorland has grown from a roadside attraction to a 110 acre park. Located in Orlando, off of Orange Blossom Trail, the park is teeming with gators, crocodiles and other wildlife. Even after three hours, our family wasn’t able to take in all of the sights and sounds of the family friendly park.   The three shows at Gatorland…

Welcome Home Dinner at Olivia’s Cafe

Welcome Home Dinner at Olivia’s Cafe

Our house has been fairly lonely this past week as my husband has been away on a business trip. We were overjoyed to pick him up at the airport, even though the Orlando airport is a mad house on Friday night. Driving home, we decided to stop by for dinner at Olivia’s Cafe in Walt Disney World’s Old Key West. Despite being a Friday night, the restaurant was sparsely populated and we were seated quite quickly. The nautical themed dinner…

Dine on a boat in Key West. Take a stroll around St. Augustine’s Castillo San Marcos. Feed alligators amid the cypress trees of the Everglades.
