It’s Not Fair

It’s Not Fair

It’s not fair!” As a parent, I have heard this cry too many times to count. He got the bigger piece. He got a toy, a treat, a gift I never received. My kids want their lives to be fair. They want each piece of cake the same. How many times have I explained that life isn’t fair. Yet, how many times have I went to the Lord with the same cry, it’s not fair! Her life is better! Her job, her kids, her body, her house is better! Why isn’t mine like hers?

However, I don’t want life to be fair. I don’t want to get what I deserve. I deserve death. For all the times I have turned my back on the Lord, I don’t deserve the life he has given me. I don’t want justice, I want mercy.

I am thankful for Jesus, that he accepts me and uses me even though I am a hot mess. He sees my flaws, my shortcomings and he shows me mercy. His arms are filled with overwhelming, abundant grace, faith and love. Life isn’t fair, but Jesus is merciful (1 Timothy 1:12-17).
