Ever since the coming soon sign was posted, my kids started drooling and asking when they were going to open. I didn’t know what to expect when Coney’s Italain Ice and Creamery posted their eye catching sign in the Sorrento Hills plaza near our home in Sorrento, Fl. I had never heard of the company and wondered what their definition of Italian Ice would taste like. I envisioned a sno cone like treat that would appeal to my kids’ taste buds but not do much for my need for a creamy desert. Much to my pleasure: I Was Wrong!
In my opinion, Coney’s Italian Ice definitely appeals to kid and grown up taste. The Italain Ice is so creamy, but if it isn’t creamy enough for you, you can order a gelati, Italian Ice layered with vanilla, chocolate, or vanilla and chocolate swirl soft serve ice cream. The Italian Ice is homemade with the freshest ingredients and doesn’t contain gluten or high fructose corn syrup. Many of the flavors are even dairy free. With so many flavors to choose from, there is something for every member of the family. If you can’t decide, they offer free samples of all their flavors. My favorite is the peanut butter ice with chocolate ice cream, which tastes like Reese’s Peanut Butter cup. Though my boys prefer the mint chocolate chip ice and the Swedish fish ice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a welcoming feel and they even offer gift cards for special occasions. So when my boys finished the next level in their math boooks and we were deciding on a treat, our decision was unanimous: Coney’s Italian Ice!
